Back from the dead, and doing commercials?

So I'm not patying attention to the set, and what should come on but a commercial for Sprint, and whose voice do I hear wafting out of my set but the American voice actor who does Spike Siegel! A bit odd, I'll admit. I keep expecting him to add something like "switch over and save a bunch of woolongs" or somesuch. (-;

    Yeah, I have looked at some anime and cartoon credits on the IMDb, and you see the same names over and over again. Good money I guess, I just wish I could get into it for work, I think it would be a geek dream to be the voice on multiple animes/cartoons.

      But its kind of a vibe killer. That voice is Spike to me, and no matter what Mr. Blum does, all his other voice gigs make me think that Spike is "in" another story.
      That's one of my favorite things about FLCL. They went out of their way to get amature/unknown voice talent. Of course, I'm pretty sure Kevins on that one, too.

        I know. When I heard the Doctor (I think, I admit I'm bad with Japanese names) from Ghost in the Shell doing some insipid children's cartoon evil guy, I cringed! It just felt wrong. I expected the character to be old with pointy hair. Wait, that sounds like Dilbert's boss...

        Is Kevin Blum in that, too?

        :P

          Actually he was in FLCL though his voice was almost unnoticable:
          FLCL (2000) (V) (voice: English version) (as David Lucas) .... Miyu Miyu, Masashi
          He was the cat and one of Naota's friends from school. The laid back one.

            not to be contrary, but i find the dubbed bebop unbearable.

            i think GITS is the only english version of anime that the voices suit the characters...

              This is an argument ever since anime became popular outside of Japan. I do tend to disagree in the case of Cowboy Bebop. I believe the voice actors suit the characters very well and I have since been a fan of the actors work.

              Many anime "loyalists" tend to believe that the only way to watch anime is with the original sound recording, I feel this can be true only if it doesn't provide too much distraction from the show itself. In Cowboy Bebop... I think the core theme of the production is much too significant to put up with distraction.
